On the Trail of French Culture

11/13/2007

I’m on the prowl today for a little French culture. Here in these beautiful, old castles, it’s easy to find—no need to be an Inspecteur to be able to see that! But what about elsewhere? Shall we find out?

The Francelator's files

Chantilly! (c. Michel Bureau)

The Orange Festival! (c. Grand angle orange)

The Tuileries Gardens aflame in Nuit Blanche

Center of National Monuments

The Champs! (Philippe Berthé & Patrick Cadet)

Pont du Gard (c. S Barbier)

Culture really IS everywhere in France!

Salle des Colonnes (c. Agglomeration de Montpellier)

The Francelator's tips

  • How to stay awake on Nuit Blanche:
~ sleep all day, or loll around in a café, and save all your museum-going for the all-night open hours
~ go dancing in the brisk October air at one of many outdoor concert installations
~ change your setting by getting on the all-night Metro and see another part of the city ablaze in the night-long festivities...
  • ~ check out my Picks for the lesser known cultural musts in France, like La Cinémathèque Française in Paris...only for the clued-in!!!

Video - I had to work on catching pronunciation of French twrms and SOME of the hurried English. In any re-make, please SLOW down and enunciate clealry. However, the video is creative, imaginative and informative ABOVE ALL.
